Shannon Walker is the Director of Development for the James E. Rogers College of Law, where she oversees alumni engagement, donor relations, and philanthropic initiatives to support the College’s mission. Shannon leads major gift fundraising efforts, manages strategic alumni and development programs, and collaborates with College and University leadership to advance College priorities. She also directs events and initiatives that foster meaningful connections with alumni, donors, and the broader law community.
In her eight years at the College of Law, Shannon held numerous leadership roles focused on strategic initiatives and relationship building. As Director of Special Projects, she managed high-level communications and projects on behalf of the dean and worked with alumni, donors, and stakeholders. Prior to that, Shannon held multiple roles in the Career Development Office where she led critical programs, partnered with alumni and donor employers, and organized events connecting students with alumni and legal professionals. Throughout her time at the College, Shannon has cultivated strong partnerships within the Arizona legal community, supporting career development, networking opportunities, and alumni engagement.
Shannon is a Tucson native and graduated from the University of Arizona with dual bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology in 2013. She earned a Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University in 2021 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Higher Education at the University of Arizona.

- Serve as the main point of contact for University Archives at Arizona State University. Provide reference and fulfillment services for all inquiries. Identify, select, and acquire historical materials documenting the school's history. Facilitate the arrangement, description, and preservation of materials according to professional standards. - Direct archival operations for the Thunderbird School of Global Management and provided support to archival collections at Arizona State University. Engaged in reference services to students, staff, faculty, alumni, local media and general public. Arranged and described historical collections, including print, audiovisual, photographs, and artifacts. Collaborated with colleague to merge collection records from Archivist’s Toolkit and FileMaker Pro to ArchiveSpace. Maintained database of collection records in ArchivesSpace. Developed exhibit, including digitization of photographs and writing narrative, for physical exhibit in Hayden Library. Collected, organized and maintained archival digital files. Oversaw the preservation, access and promotion of the Harry Snyder Special Collection. Coordinated digitization of student newspapers which included selecting a vendor, overseeing quality control and metadata creation and uploading final files to ASU Digital Repository. Hosted several open houses in the archives and led personal tours of Thunderbird campus. Increased awareness of collections to staff, students, alumni and the community. - Facilitate the safekeeping and display of all artwork in the Thunderbird International Folk Art collection. When appropriate, prepare materials for long-term preservation. Coordinate with art handling company to professionally handle, pack and unpack, store, install, and de-install artwork. Primary contact for arranging transport, and all logistics surrounding artwork including receiving art shipments, moving art, and assisting with installations. Coordinate repairs, mounts, mats, and unframing/framing of artwork. Initiate and participate in periodic inventory checks to maintain accurate location records. Establish and update storage locations for artwork. Create and maintain a database of artwork descriptions and provenance information. Create labels and narratives for artwork display. Communicate via email, telephone, and/or other manners with other departments, curators, donors, vendors, other professionals, as well as the public regarding the art collection.
- Arizona Archives Alliance (or AzAA) is a nonprofit educational and support organization (https://arizonaarchives.org/). It provides assistance to Arizona archival institutions and archivists and promotes the use of Arizona’s archives through small grant funding opportunities, training opportunities, and a symposium series.
-The Board serves as the central advisory body for historical records planning and for National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) funded projects developed and carried out in this state. The Board also serves as a coordinating body to facilitate cooperation among historical records repositories and other information agencies in this state and as a state-level review body for grant proposals as defined in the NHPRC guidelines. Chair of the Professional Archives Development Program (PADP) committee.
- Project STAND is an archival consortia project that aims to create a centralized space highlighting collections that document student activism in marginalized communities. The Advisory Board directs and advises the project to achieve the stated goals of Project STAND (https://standarchives.com/) and fulfill an awarded IMLS grant for a symposium series and an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant.

- As the (volunteer) Photo Archivist for CDOT, developed a strategy to rehouse their collection of 10,000+ historic photographs according to preservation standards. Created plan to describe each photograph and catalog it into a database according to professional standards. Often collaborated with CDOT staff and historians. Trained, organized and supervised a team of student-volunteers.
Denver, CO
- Digitized archival materials for an IMLS grant-funded project documenting the history of seven neighborhoods in the Denver area. Compiled metadata for digitized materials according to bibliographic standards. Processed archival materials from the City and County of Denver and Western History collections, including arranging and describing materials and creating accession records, inventories and finding aids in EAD. Contributed content and materials to institutional blog and Flickr site.
Agoura Hills, CA
- Member of an advisory committee for the city of Agoura Hills, California. The committee worked to develop a plan of restoration and interpretation for a historic adobe ranch house in the community. Participation in the committee included doing background research and writing two grant proposals, working with city council members, and designing public programming. The project was awarded over $250,000 in grant funding.
Los Angeles, CA
- Created and maintained a storage and retrieval system for in-house documents. Project included ordering and purchasing archival materials, maintaining a large database of information and providing research assistance to scientists and experts in their respective fields. Managed databases of extensive scientific bibliographies and edited them for online publication.
Los Angeles, CA
- Coordinated and maintained all Interlibrary Loan transactions (borrowing and lending) for the Information Center (library) of the Institute. Arranged for the purchase of materials for the Information Center reference collection. Updated technologies for the Institute’s staff, enabling them to have access to online databases and the library catalog.
