About
Born in Canada, raised in Negril, Jamaica, and having bounced around America, including stops in New York and LA, Nova Rockafeller, who is of Ukrainian, English and French descent, realizes she’ll initially be lumped in the “white girl rapper” category, but according to her that’s OK, “as long as they say ‘rapper.'”

Family
FATHER: UNK
MOTHER: UNK
BROTHER: Terry Paholek
She did get support from her father and brother, both of whom are heavily involved in the Edmonton music scene.
I was seventeen and sitting with my back to the wall, talking on the phone to one of my friends, in the living room of the two bedroom apartment my mom rented when she moved back to Canada from Jamaica. This apartment was 50 steps from an infamous abandoned hospital in Edmonton, the Charles Camsell.

HipHop Kemp 2011. While we're out there doing another interview, in the background we can hear the beginning of the Rugged Man concert. But instead of machinegun raps by one of the best mcs in the whole world, we hear a powerful female voice warming up the crowd. Later we are told that her performance was outstanding. At night we meet her, wearing a tshirt with a photo of her (barely dressed) which read "i fucked nova rockafeller". Well, we HAD to do an interview. So here it is, our talk with the canadian rapper Nova Rockafeller, who just released her album "insufficient funds". Have fun watching!
