Shirt Symbol

TF LXIX is a logo and design associated with Garand Thumb, a community and channel focused on tactical fashion and firearms. The logo features Roman numeral LXIX, which translates to 69 in Arabic numerals.
The logo also includes a bust of a Roman emperor, likely Caligula, with a Roman gladius (sword) through his head. This imagery is tied to the theme of overthrowing a tyrannical leader, as Caligula was known for his unjust rule and was eventually assassinated by being stabbed multiple times. The use of Roman numerals and the Roman aesthetic is likely chosen for its visual appeal and thematic relevance to the idea of resistance against tyranny.
Is it not ironic that this man is tackling a senior citizen to the ground?!

The "TF LXIX" logo is primarily associated with Onward Research, a company founded by Garand Thumb, a popular firearms and tactical content creator on YouTube and other platforms. Garand Thumb, whose real name is Mike Jones, is a former U.S. Air Force TACP (Tactical Air Control Party) member known for his educational and entertaining videos about firearms, gear, and military culture. Onward Research is his brand, focusing on tactical apparel, gear, and merchandise, often with a distinctive, edgy aesthetic.
What Does "TF LXIX" Mean?
-
"TF" likely stands for "Task Force," a common term in military contexts referring to a unit assigned to a specific mission or operation.
-
"LXIX" is the Roman numeral for 69, which adds a layer of humor or irreverence, a hallmark of Garand Thumb's branding style. The number 69 is often used in internet and pop culture for its playful, cheeky connotations.
The combination "TF LXIX" (Task Force 69) suggests a fictional or stylized tactical unit, blending military themes with a tongue-in-cheek vibe. It’s not tied to any real-world military entity but rather serves as a branding motif for Onward Research’s merchandise, like t-shirts, patches, and hoodies.
The Logo Design
While there’s no universally detailed official explanation from Garand Thumb or Onward Research about the logo’s deeper meaning, fan discussions (notably on platforms like Reddit’s r/GarandThumb) suggest it often features a Roman-inspired graphic—such as a bust or a sword—pairing with the Roman numerals. This design choice likely aims for a "cool factor" rather than a complex narrative. Some speculate it could nod to historical or tyrannical figures (e.g., Caligula, a Roman emperor famously assassinated), but this remains unconfirmed and may just be fans reading into the aesthetic.
What’s It About?
The TF LXIX logo and associated merch are about tactical culture with a twist of humor. It’s marketed toward fans of Garand Thumb’s content—people who appreciate firearms, military-inspired gear, and subtle "in-the-know" references. The branding leans into a mix of rugged functionality and ironic flair, appealing to a community that values both quality products and a sense of camaraderie through shared humor. Onward Research’s items, like the TF LXIX t-shirts and patches, are often praised for their quality and the brand’s excellent customer service, as seen in reviews on their site.
In short, the TF LXIX logo is a creative extension of Garand Thumb’s persona and Onward Research’s mission: blending tactical utility with a playful, rebellious edge. It’s less about a specific "meaning" and more about embodying a vibe that resonates with their audience.
Onward Research produces items like t-shirts, hoodies, patches, and tactical accessories, often featuring designs tied to military themes or inside jokes from Garand Thumb’s videos.
Garand Thumb is based in Idaho, USA.
Concerning the VIOLENT Tackling of a Senior Citizen

Excessive Force On Senior Citizen For Bike Lights?
I am calling on RJ Larizza, State Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit to immediately drop all charges against Danny Winklemann. I am also calling for SAO 7th to open a criminal investigation into the actions of Deputy Canaan of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
On 2/17/25 at approximately 9:20pm a potential violent crime was committed against a senior citizen on the streets of St. Augustine, Florida. Senior Citizen Danny Winklemann was minding his own business while riding his bike home from the grocery store. Mr Winkleman had plans to fix himself something to eat after a long hard day and then simply go to bed. Deputy Austin Bryce Canaan of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Department observed Mr. Winklemann riding his bike without the required lights. Deputy Canaan conducted a traffic stop on Mr. Winklemann and after Mr. Winklemann allegedly did not stop quick enough for him Deputy Canaan immediately escalated a non criminal, non emergency situation into use of force and arrest.
After the arrest Deputy Canaan and his colleagues with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office along with an Officer from the City of Saint Augustine Police Department laughed and high fived each other about the violent arrest of a peaceful senior citizen who was just trying to get home a fix himself something to eat.
If you find the actions of these Blue Line Heroes to be as egregious as I do please don't waste your time going to the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Offices Facebook page. Your time and efforts would be more effectively spent by peacefully and lawfully petitioning your grievances to the State Attorneys Office of the 7th Judicial Circuit.
